Classic Reunions Handled Both Events

The 50-Year Class Reunion of the Class of 1958 was handled by Classic Reunions.

Their web site lists 'everyone's name' and lists who is 'found' and who is 'lost.'

It also has an 'in memoriam' section.

The first mailing went out in October of 2007.

Reunion Invitations were sent out in late February and early March.
There was a discount for early registration, before July 15.

The Reunion Packages included the following options:

  • Friday Reception
  • Saturday Dinner
  • Class Memory Book
  • Class Group Photo

They found 380 of 429 living classmates and identified 52 who had passed away. Of the 380 they found, 106 attended, most with spouses.

The Friday nite cocktail reception cost $10 each and included $10 in coupons each good for drinks and appetizers. My wife and I got 4 sodas and 4 appetizer plates for $20. The music was soft piano music so it was easy to talk. It was a public cocktail lounge but it wasn't crowded.

The Saturday nite banquet had good food served buffet style. They had plenty of everything except deserts. They ran out of all of the deserts except an Orange Creamsicle Cake. The program was very short so most of the night was just the dinner and free time to wander around visiting people. The program listed who was there so it was easy to know who to look for. They had soft music, mostly oldies recordings from the 50's. Again it was easy to visit. It was a huge private banquet room so the sound level didn't get too loud.

I thought they did an excellent job. The essence of the reunion was being simple and friendly.

The committee for 2008 was: Judith Blair Walker, Judy Egleston Rogers, John (Mike) Hanselman, Bonnie Huget Hamilton, Roger Rollins, Sheila Smith, Donald Stepp
